Steps

Flashing

  1. Open Rufus and insert your flash drive and select it in the Device field.
  2. In the Boot selection field, click SELECT and select the Ubuntu ISO file you downloaded.
  3. Change the slider for Persistent partition size to its maximum amount.
  4. In Partition scheme, Choose MBR if you have a legacy BIOS system, or GPT if you have a UEFI system. If unsure, leave it as MBR.
  5. Once done, press START. If you are prompted to choose an install mode, select Write in ISO image mode, then press OK to the following popup. It may take around 5-10 minutes to install to your flash drive.

Booting into the USB

Once the process has completed, leave the flash drive connected to your computer.

  1. Restart your computer and enter your BIOS or boot menu (usually by pressing F2, F12, DEL, or ESC during startup).
  2. Select your flash drive in the boot menu as your boot device. You should see the Linux Mint boot menu. Select Start Linux Mint. It may take a while for the desktop to load.

You may now follow the instructions on Legacy iOS Kit's How To Use page
for Linux.
